It’s great to have good neighbors, and there are cameras that can detect activity on your porch, and other things. But truly, nothing beats a walk-through. I've found leaking dishwashers, gas leaks, and all manner of other things that would've gone undetected and caused serious problems. And now I've been informed that homeowner's insurance companies have begun insisting on having a local point person for second homes, since the risks in unoccupied homes is much greater.
